Cranes found; two still missing

KEARNEY - Two of the stolen Cranes on Parade have been recovered.

This morning, the Old Glory and Roots of Nebraska fiberglass cranes were found boxed and dumped at the Kearney Recycling Center, said Cranes on Parade Chairman Susan Bigg.

"This is good news," Bigg said. "I've been told they are in good shape."

Four cranes were reported missing between Sunday and Monday morning including cranes sponsored by City Glass at 2500 W. Highway 30 and Contemporary Obstetrics & Gynecology at 101 W. 24th St., which were the cranes found today.

The Mirage Crane decorated by Kenwood students and Fractional Crane sponsored by Baldwin Filters decorated with geometrical designs are still missing.

A $1,000 Crimestoppers reward has been offered for information that leads to the safe return of the cranes.

Bigg said the Rotary has considered a reward because several people have offered money for one, but hasn't made a decision.

The rest of the 31 cranes that Kearney Dawn Rotary Club placed around town are on display inside the sponsoring business, school or organization's building.

Anyone with any information on the missing cranes may call Crimestoppers at 237-3424.
