After four of the cranes were
stolen from their roosts, and only two were recovered it was decided
that the two missing cranes would be reproduced. However,
later when one more showed up, there was one extra. COP Board
member, and artist, Pat Wiederspan Jones conceived the idea
of a "penny bank crane." After gaining the support (and
pennies) from six local banks, the crane was accomplished with the
help of hundreds of local artists at Art in the Park. The
crane is an actual bank, with slot in it's back and a big stopper in
the bottom. |
