Welcome to the Cranes On Parade Auction Site

More than a year ago the Kearney Dawn Rotary embraced the Cranes On Parade project with grand ideas of bringing public art to the streets of central Nebraska.  From January through September, 32 Cranes "migrated" in the Tri-cities.  Now our cranes are looking for permanent "roosting" nests!  All funds raised from the Cranes On Parade project will benefit numerous worthwhile community organizations, Rotary scholarships and Rotary International philanthropic projects.

The Gala Art Auction will include "LIVE" music, hors d'oeuvres, and adult beverages on October 11th in Kearney's historic Museum of Nebraska Art.  For more information, or to purchase tickets to the "LIVE" Art Auction, please contact a member of the Cranes On Parade Team.

Pre-Event bidding and proxy bids for the "LIVE" auction will start on September 11, 2003.  Bidding for all cranes is being conducted online and will continue at the "LIVE" auction. Online bids will be accepted up to 24 hours prior to the "LIVE" auction. Please refer to the explanation of the pre-bidding process.

With the pre-event auction you can join the bidding excitement before the "LIVE" public auction on October 11th.  The amounts that are bid in the pre-event bidding will become the opening bids at the "LIVE" auction.  Even if you are unable to make it to Kearney for the "LIVE" Public Auction, you can still participate by placing a "proxy bid" on the pre-event site.  If you would like to be involved in the "LIVE" auction, but cannot attend please contact the Public Art Network, or Cranes On Parade.

Pre-Event Bidding
Cranes will be sold using a two-phase process:
Phase I - On-line Pre-Event Bidding
  • All Cranes will be made available "On-line" for Pre-Event Bidding.
  • At the end of the On-line Pre-Event Bidding, there may be one Winning Bid.
  • A Winning Bid may consists of two components:
    • Winning Bid Amount - This is highest bid amount at the closing time of the On-Line auction. The bid will be publicly displayed in the "bid history" section, along with the User Name of the winning bidder.
    • Proxy Bid Amount - The Winning Bid may have a Proxy Bid associated with it. A Proxy Bid represents the maximum amount the user is willing to pay for the item. The Winning Bid may be lower than the Proxy Bid at the conclusion of the auction. The Proxy Bid Amount is always kept secret, and is never displayed to the public.
  • The Winning Bid will be used as the opening bid at the "LIVE" Event.
  • If a Crane has no bidding during the Pre-Event, the opening bid at the "LIVE" Auction will be the minimum bid amount.
Phase II - "LIVE" Event at MONA
  • The Winning Bid Amount from the On-line Pre-Event Bidding will be used to open bidding in the "LIVE" Event.
  • If the Winning Bid Amount from the On-line Pre-Event Bidding is lower than the Proxy Bid Amount, a designate at the "LIVE" Event will continue to bid on the user's behalf, up to the Proxy Bid Amount.
  • The individual with the highest bid amount at the end of the "LIVE" Event auction will win the item.
Proxy Bidding: Proxy Bidding allows you to enter the maximum value you are willing to pay for an individual item. Once you enter this value, the software will automatically increment your bid until the maximum amount is reached. The software keeps your Proxy Bid hidden, and the price will increment only if competing bids have been placed on the same item. Use this time saving feature to bid on individual items of interest. If your Proxy Bid is outbid, you will automatically be notified by e-mail, and you will have an opportunity to update your bid. If you win, you will automatically be notified by e-mail at the close of the sale.
